Is Reese Titan Weight Distribution Hitch RP66006 Good For Trailer With Varying Weights
Question:
I am looking for a weight distribution hitch for my dump trailer, which we load logs in-not always full, but it is typical to be tough heavy. With a full load I know I can reach 1700 lbs. Its a 14k trailer pulled by an f350. I am not concerned about sway control as we do minimal highway driving. Can you back up with this hitch attached? Say into a driveway with a 90 degree turn? Would this hitch be a good option for a trailer which has varying weights through out the day? Thanks!

All weight distribution hitches are rated to level the trailer at the specific ranges they are rated for. So if you have a load that is too light or too heavy for the rating it won't be perfectly level. There is just no way around this, so the best thing to do is get one in the ranges you will be at the majority of the time. You mentioned not always being full, but pretty heavy, so if you are generally in the 1,100 lb to 1,700 lb tongue weight range then a great option is the Reese Titan Weight Distribution # RP66006.
That is a pretty wide range so I imagine you will be just fine most of the time based on how you described it. You can indeed back up, though a full 90 degree turn may not be possible, which is true of all weight distribution hitches.
The # RP66006 does not come with a hitch ball or shank, so you would need to get those as well, the 2-5/16" Hitch Ball # BWHB94050 and Weight Distribution Shank for 2.5" Hitches # C17132.
