Baseplate Installation for a 2014 Jeep Cherokee Trailhawk
Question:
We have a Roadmaster Sterling towbar system with everything required except the baseplate for the 2014 Jeep Cherokee Trailhawk. The instructions for the baseplate seem pretty straight forward and says about 3 hours for installation. Does this sound correct and is this someone with a fair mechanical aptitude could install themselves? Were probably 200 miles form the closest installer.

I'd say that if you set aside an afternoon to the install of the Roadmaster Base Plate Kit # RM-521446-4 on your 2014 Jeep Cherokee Trailhawk you would have no problem installing it since you said you have a fair mechanical aptitude.
I attached an FAQ on flat-towing for you to check out also.
If your Cherokee has 4 wheel drive or the Active Drive II system, to maintain the vehicle's stable steering while being flat towed you will want to install the Mopar accessory kit 68321424AB, available from your Jeep dealer. This kit will prevent the Cherokee's steering from shaking while being flat towed.
