Is There a Kayak Trailer That Can Carry (2) 36" Wide Old Town Sportsman 120 PDL Kayaks
Question:
We have a 2021 Old Town Sportsman 120 PDL kayak and are buying another 2023 version. We need a V mount trailer, or something else, that will let us launch and load easily. We’re 74 and can’t do heavy lifting. We want to back into the water and let the kayaks float free. I read an Amazon review by someone with the same kayaks and it showed the EcoLight Sport V mount was too narrow to hold them both. He had to do modifications, which appeared to involve mounting longer cross bars and fashioning his own bunks. Is it possible to get the EcoLight Sport V Mount with slightly longer cross bars? …..or do you have another model of trailer that would work. Thank you!

Taking a look at your Kayak model, it appears as though your 2 kayaks are 36" wide, totaling 72" in width. The Malone EcoLight Sport Trailer with V-Style Carriers # MAL43FR only have 58" wide crossbars, which will be far undersized for your (2) Old Town Sportsman 120 PDL Kayaks.
Instead, you would want to use the Malone MicroSport Trailer with V-Style Carriers for 2 Kayaks # MPG461GS. This trailer has 78" wide crossbars. This gives you enough width to fit your (2) 36" wide kayaks and have a small gap between them.
