Could 2 Swagman Pick-Up Mounted Bike Racks # S64702 be Installed in a Truck Bed

Question:

In an effort to keep up to 4 bikes off the actual bed of the truck and allow more storage, will the Swagman hold the weight of four bikes? Example: two bars...one in front of the bed and one in the rear of the bed. Each bar will hold the fork mounted side of two bikes AND the rear tires of the other two bikes while strapping the rear tires down with tie downs.

Expert Reply:

I spoke to my contact at Swagman and he said that as long as you had a long enough truck bed you could reasonably pull off what you are trying to do. You will need to move the fork mounts around on the racks so that the bikes from the front rack would not interfere with the bikes on the rear rack.

Using tie-downs to secure the rear wheels would be a great idea as well.
