Recommended Aluminum Wheels and Tires For 10K Tandem Axle Trailer For Long Trips From NY to Flordia

Question:

I have a palm Beach trailer twin axle capacity 10K need tires. Highway speeds up to 70 mph plus or minus 6 lug 5.5 inch pattern. Does about 3200 miles a year up and down I95 from NY to Fla keys. Currently has galvanized wheels that are looking crappy. Was thinking of upgrading to aluminum wheels. Can you suggest something. Also do you balance your wheel and tires and do you have free roadside assistance? Can i use an existing tire and wheel as a spare. We have lost a tire every trip down and have about 7500 miles on rig at this time. Currently we have ST225/75D15

Our Provider ST225/75R15 Radial Tire w 15" Viking Aluminum Wheel # A225R6FPS is going to be a great option for you. This wheel and tire includes a 2-year warranty on the tire and lifetime structural defect warranty on the wheel. They also come with 2 years of complimentary roadside assistance and these are speed rated for 81mph. While our wheels and tires are not balanced from the manufacturer you can install the Counteract Tire Balancing Beads # CA83VR into the tires without having to have them removed.

If you do not already have a TPMS system for your trailer tires I recommend the TireMinder i10 TPMS # TM89FR which comes with 4 sensors for a tandem axle trailer. These will warn you if it see the air pressure drop or rise beyond safe limits. It will also monitor the air temperature inside the tires which typically is why most tires blow out when you are on the road. Having these warnings help you to pull over before the tire becomes damaged and risks damage to the wheels as well.

You are able to use your existing wheels and tires for temporary spares if you have an incident and are not able to have the tire replaced immediately.
