Why Can the Kuat Transfer V2 Carry a Heavier Bike Than the V1

Question:

I have the kuat transfer single version one, it says its max weight is 45lbs, just bought a ebike that weighs 50lb, will i be fine? Or what is the difference about the new one that has a 60lbs max weight

It sounds like you have the Kuat Transfer V1. If that is the case, the weight capacity is actually 40lbs. instead of 45lbs. This would not be adequate for using your 50lb. e-bike. You would need to upgrade to the Kuat Transfer V2 Bike Rack # KU64FR, which can hold a bike weighing up to 60lbs.

The main difference that allows the V2 to carry a heavier bike than the V1 is the shank and adapter. The V2 has an upgraded/bulked up shank and better 1-1/4"-2" adapter than the V1. This is what allows it to carry a heavier bike.

I have included a photo of the V1 shank and the V2 shank so you can see the difference.
