Solution for Weight Distribution Hitch on 2019 Karavan Trailer With Folding Tongue
Question:
Hello, I have a 2019 Bayliner VR6 that’s sits on a 2019 Karavan Trailer. My current tow vehicle is a 2020 Explorer ST. The boat trailer has a breakaway tongue and is an I BEAM. The Explorer squats drastically with my current setup. Which Weight Distribution Hitch and adapter for the pole trailer do you recommend? Thank you!

The Blue Ox Pole Tongue Weight Distributing Hitch Adapter # BXW4023 you looked at will fit a straight tongue. However, since you have a folding tongue you will not be able to use a weight distribution hitch because it cannot handle the force that will be applied to the hinge.
I have two options for you. The first is to use suspension enhancement like the Air Lift 1000 Air Helper Springs for Coil Springs # AL87CD. This will add additional support to the rear suspension and help keep you level while towing your 2019 Bayliner VR6.
The other option is to replace the tongue on your trailer. If you switch to a regular pole-tongue that doesn't fold you will be able to use a weight distribution hitch with an adapter. When choosing a WDH you base it on your loaded tongue weight. If you choose to go this route, let me know what your tongue weight is and I can help you find the best system for your setup.
