Is There Such Things as Too Much Overhang with the Rhino-Rack Sunseeker Awning on a 2020 Mazda CX-5

Question:

Hi, watched you video about the Sunseeker awning on the RAV-4. I have a Mazda Cx-5 and Im wondering if there is a max amount of overhang you recommend for the front. Looking at the video it looks like you are allowing quite a bit of overhang. Im worried if there is too much overhang the wind could potentially damage the awning while driving.

There really isn't a set max overhang number for the Rhino-Rack Sunseeker Awning # RR32132. You just need to have the awning as centered as possible on the roof rack crossbars, equal overhang on both the front and the back.

The only reason you would need to be concerned with the overhang is if it is sticking past the front or rear of your CX-5 too far. Not sticking past the roof over the windshield, but the front bumper of your CX-5.

The Rhino-Rack Sunseeker Awning # RR32132 gets rolled up and stored in the included PVC cover. This reduces the wind catch points and protects the awning while driving and not in use.
