Will Putting Boat Trailer Guide-Ons Forward on the Trailer Help Reduce the Chances of Hitting Them

Question:

If I put my trailer guide-ons as far forward on my trailer as possible.. isnt that going to help me not hit them as easily? If I send my boat to the center of the poles by the time the widest part of the boat gets to the poles, Ive already slid into the center of the trailer bunks. I dont really care where my trailer starts I care where the center is. Am I thinking about this wrong?

What you are saying makes sense to me. Since you don't care as much about where the boat trailer starts, using the guide-ons like the # CE27640 towards the front of the trailer to make identifying center easier makes sense.

That should then mean your boat is engaged with the trailer bunks by the time your boat is approaching the guide-ons and reduces the chance of the guide-ons getting hit. If your thought process is wrong, then I am right there with you because it makes sense to me.
