How Much Force Is Required To Remove The Pin On a Trailer Breakaway Switch?

Question:

Hi I had a company come out and do a baring repack on my tab trailer i also asked him to pull the pin on my breakaway and make sure it was working. Today i wanted to change out the wire on my pin for a different coiled one. i am pulling on the breakaway pin and cannot seem to get it out. i have never done this. should i just keep pulling maybe it takes a lot i just did not want to do so and damage something. Any help is greatly appreciated

The Trailer Breakaway Switch # 420000 should be somewhat difficult to pull out. It is designed to stay in place unless the trailer disconnects and is held firmly in place to not be pulled out due to vibrations and possible road debris when towing. If you give the cable a quick tug it should allow the pin to more easily be removed for testing. You will then be able to attach your Coiled Breakaway Cable # FA80-01-2140.
