Does a 2013 Toyota 4Runner have to be Trimmed to Install a Westin Ultimate Bull Bar

To install the Westin Ultimate Bull Bar, # 32-3605, there is some trimming of the splash guard required. The instructions state specifically: Take the drivers side splash guard and position it against the frame mounting bracket, mark the are that needs to be cut from the splash guard to clear the bracket. Cut only the minimum amount to clear and then reinstall. Repeat this step for the passenger side.
The splash guard is under the vehicle and not visible unless underneath.
