Is There a Lock Pin to Replace Upright Bolt on Hollywood Racks Sport Rider Bike Rack
Question:
Hi, the Sports Rider 2-bike carrier we purchased from Etrailer.com has worked great on our road trip. We love the keyed hitch lock to keep the rack secure. But when were in larger cities we feel we have to take the whole bike rack off the car and into our lodging because theres no lock for this bolt where the rack connects to the part that swings the rack up and down. A thief could easilty unscrew it and make off with the rack. Is there a locking pin/bolt that we could add here?

The Hollywood Racks Sport Rider Bike Rack part # HR1000Z does have locks, for both the bikes and hitch but it's not a Brinks truck either. If a thief has the time and right tools he will get the rack and your bikes. There isn't a way to make the rack completely theft proof unfortunately. That said, to answer your specific question, no, there isn't a lock designed to replace that bolt and yes, if someone had enough time and knew enough about the rack they could remove the upright and your bikes with the right tools. Personally, I remove my bikes from the rack whenever staying somewhere overnight. The rack I typically don't worry as much about as it's a less targeted item. The mere presence of a lock is enough to deter most thieves.
All that being said, the HR1000Z is no longer available. We now offer the Hollywood Racks Sport Rider SE # HLY84FR for a similar Hollywood Brand 2 bike rack.
