How To Convert 5-Way on 2014 Chevrolet Captiva Sport Into 7-Way for Electric Brakes
Question:
Hi there! I have a Coleman pop up with electric brakes, 7 blade round plug. I am pulling it with a 2014 Chevy captiva and it has a 5 pin flat plug. I’d like the easiest, cheapest, plug and play system for it. Are there adapters to power the brakes with existing wiring, if not what would you recommend? Thanks!

The best option to convert the 5-way on your 2014 Chevrolet Captiva Sport into a 7-way is with the Universal Installation Kit for Trailer Brake Controller part # ETBC7 which will plug into the 5-way you have now and convert this into a 7-way for use on a trailer with electric brakes. It also comes with everything else you need to install a trailer brake controller which you will need to activate the trailer's brakes. I recommend the Redarc Tow-Pro Liberty Brake Controller # RED24FR. You will also need the universal pigtail # RED69FR.
The easiest solution isn't the cheapest and the cheapest solution isn't the easiest. It's like the "good, fast, cheap" paradigm. That said, the above option is a great setup for you that has everything you need to get setup and go. It's not the best nor the worst, a good setup.
