7-Way For 2018 Jeep Grand Cherokee For Brake Controller
Question:
Hi team! Have 2018 Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo without factory tow package. Its one just after they stopped prewiring them. I had dealer install hitch and trailer tow wiring harness 5/2021. Just bought hybrid TT, plugged in Tekonska 90195 into the connection under the dash... should I expect the brake controller to recognize the trailer? I swear it did at first maybe I was wrong, but the trailer right taillight and signal wasnt working, so brought to dealer to look at. They said they fixed the taillight loose wire but are telling me they need to run a wire from the front to the back for the brake control to work? Is this correct? I would have thought the harness they installed would have taken care of this? They want $800 for that work, which seems nuts. Would appreciate any thoughts!!

Did they just install a 4-way or did they install a 7-way on your 2018 Jeep Grand Cherokee? If they installed a 4-way then they would need to install a 7-way, which does require running wires, though you can do it yourself for much less than $800 by adding the Universal Installation Kit for Trailer Brake Controller # ETBC7.
Or if the harness they added was a 7-way, and they still have to run a wire, then it wasn't properly installed, as all wires should have been run.
