Will the Flint Hill Goods Cargo Carrier #FHG77Z Fit on a 2011 Honda Pilot Without Hatch Interference

Question:

1. Will this carrier allow the rear door access on a 2011 Honda Pilot? 2. Ill be using this carrier to transport a 400lb electric wheelchair. I see that the carrier platform will handle up to 500lbs. Is this true of the ramp also?

I do not think you will have any interference problems with the rear hatch of your 2011 Honda Pilot and the Flint Hill Goods Cargo Carrier, # FHG77ZR, other than the ramp. We have not had the chance to test this Flint Hill Goods carrier on a Pilot before, but to be sure, we can do some measuring.

Starting at the center of the hitch pin hole on your trailer hitch, measure rearward 14 inches. At that distance, the side walls of this carrier will extend upward about 6-1/2 inches from the top of the trailer hitch receiver opening . That will give you the approximate location of the side walls of this carrier when it is installed. If your rear hatch can clear that spot, then you will not have a problem. You will simply need to lower the ramp each time you want to open the rear hatch. You will also have to take the electric wheel chair off of the ramp. The rear hatch will most likely not clear the wheel chair.

One final factor that you will want to consider is the tongue weight capacity of your trailer hitch. The tongue weight capacity on the Pilot is 10 percent of the towing capacity. For example, if your towing capacity is 4,000 lbs, then the tongue weight capacity will be 400 lbs. The weight of the wheel chair and cargo carrier (80 lbs) must fall within the tongue weight capacity of your trailer hitch.

The 500 lbs weight capacity for this Flint Hill Goods carrier also applies to the ramp.
