Troubleshooting Lid Not Fully Closing After Replacing Operator Mechanism # MA10-20281K-1AF

Question:

I replaced the opening and closing mechanism with part MaxxFan Deluxe Roof Vents Item # MA10-20281K-1AF from an RV parts store. Install went perfect I turned the gear clockwise as instructed. I used the remote to turn the fan on the lid lifted open but it will not close all the way. Is this a faulty part? I tried taking back apart and there is no other way the part goes in or turns reinstalled and the same thing the lid does not close all the way the black knob on the inside turns twice and that’s it. Do you have any other advice besides buying another mechanism?

It sounds like there is something which is not allowing the lid to fully close. The Operator Mechanism # MA10-20281K-1AF would not cause the lid to not fully close like you are experiencing. Be sure to check the hinge area to ensure some debris did not get into the hinge and is not allowing it to fully close.
