Installation of Curt Assure Brake Controller on 2002 Toyota 4Runner

We have only had the chance to install the Curt Assure Brake Controller # C49UR on a Dodge Ram which can be seen in the video below. For your 2002 Toyota 4Runner the installation will require hardwiring since there is no factory tow port. As long as you have a 7-way on the vehicle this can be done.
If you don't have a 7-way you will need to add one. Start by adding a 4-way with the # 118341. Once this is installed, or if you have the factory 4-way, you will need to add the # ETBC7. This kit includes the adapter, wiring, circuit breakers, and everything else required to upgrade to a 7-way connection.
If you don't already have the Curt Assure, I recommend the Redarc Tow-Pro Liberty Brake Controller # RED52VR instead. The main unit installs out of sight so only the control knob is visible in the cab. This gives it an OEM look while also taking up less space. The knob controls the braking power and also acts as the manual override.
