Comparing the Hopkins Agility and Curt TriFlex Trailer Brake Controllers

Question:

Hello. Can you help me decide on a brake controller for my 2010 Silverado. Towing a 7x10 enclosed trailer with a couple of motorcycles. Im looking at the Curt TriFlex and the Hopkins 47294. Any input will be appreciated. Thanks

The Hopkins Agility Trailer Brake Controller part 47295 and the Curt TriFlex Trailer Brake Controller part # C24VV are both fine options and very similar in their proportional design. That said, I recommend the Curt TriFlex because it's physically smaller (4" long x 3-1/4" wide x 7/8" tall vs. 5" long x 3" wide x 1-1/4" tall) therefore you won't run as high a chance of hitting your knee on it getting in and out, has a built-in plug so you can remove the controller easily when needed without cutting/splicing, and offers more boost settings (9 vs. 5) than most other options out on the market. If you didn't know, the boost feature lets you adjust how fast the trailer brakes come on so the greater adjustability allows you to better fine tune your setup.

The one edge that I do give to the Hopkins Agility is that the mounting range (angle) is larger so you can tilt it up or point it down more for unique install locations if needed. That said, I don't think that outweighs the above as a whole which is why I recommend the Curt TriFlex.
