Expert Reply:
To flat tow your 2003 Honda Element you'll need a baseplate, tow bar, tow bar wiring kit, braking system, and safety cables. You'll also want to check your owner's manual for any stipulations or requirements needed to flat tow the vehicle. I have the following component recommendations for you:
Baseplate: Roadmaster Direct-Connect Base Plate Kit # 1541-5.
Tow Bar: etrailer SD Non-Binding Tow Bar # e74ZR. This tow bar comes with safety cables included so you don't have to purchase them separately. The head and shank have a bit of adjustability as well to help keep it level between the motorhome and Element.
Tow Bar Wiring Kit: Roadmaster Diode 7-Wire to 6-Wire Flexo-Coil Wiring Kit # RM-15267. This diode kit will splice in to your tail light wiring in order to properly display your motorhome's traffic signals through the Element's tail lights, keeping you street legal.
Braking System: Demco SBS Stay-IN-Play DUO Supplemental Braking System # SM99251. Since you have a Class C motorhome it most likely has hydraulic brakes, making the # SM99251 the perfect choice for your vehicle. This one-time installation will activate the brakes in proportion to how hard you depress the brake pedal in the motorhome to reduce stress on the motorhome's suspension as you travel.
I also recommend installing a charge line kit like # RM-156-25 to keep your Element's battery charged while you tow. If you don't already have a charge line on your motorhome (12v power in your 7-way on the accessory prong) then you'll need also want to pick up the # RM-156-75.
