Can A Brake Light Relay Kit And Stop Light Switch Kit Both Be Installed In A 2022 Jeep Cherokee

Question:

Hi Team, A few days ago, I was very appreciative of Kevin C replying to my question, this is the link: How To Stop Your Brake Signal From Overriding Your Turn Signal While Flat Towing. https://www.etrailer.com/question-687142.html Problem is I forget to activate my RV tail lights after a daytime stop and do not have power to Item # RM-88400 Roadmaster Brake-Lite Relay Kit for Towed Vehicles. Ill probably continue forgetting, so please review this email and judge if this is an acceptable option for solving my brake signal override. Background: From our old toad, I am reusing Item # 3376391002 Buyers Products Double Pre-Wired Switch Panel with Aluminum Bracket. The 2 switches are part of our routine, during connect / disconnect: The First switch connects the toad with Item # DM66VR 10 amp fuse and diode protected Battery Charge Wire Kit. The Second switch connects the toad with Item # SM99209 AF1 and Item # SM99945 Coachlink through AF1’s Reed Switch. Unfortunately our new toad has had a few false readings by the Reed Switch, so I am currently installing Item # RM-751471 Roadmaster Stop Light Switch Kit, and changing my Coachlink activation from the Reed Switch to the “cold side” of the Stop Light Switch Kit. Questions: 1. Assuming I continue operating my 2 switch panel correctly. Can I power Item # RM-88400 Brake-Lite Relay Kit using the cold sideinch of Stop Light Switch RM-751471, just like the Coachlink? 2. If yes, I installed Relay Kit using push button ignitioninch instruction sheet B. The Relay will be protected by the 10 amp fuse from Item # SM99209, instead of RV tail light fuse. Do I need the Diode figure 4 to protect AF1 or toad battery from the Relay? Thank you very much,

I get your line of thinking but there's a much simpler solution to your issue. The brake light relay # RM-88400 and stop light switch kit # RM-751471 can not be used together. Since you're having brake light indicator issues you will only want to install the stop light switch kit instead.

The electrical systems of your Cherokee will turn off after running for 20 minutes so both Roadmaster and us here at etrailer do not recommend installing a brake light relay to fix the turn signal overriding the brake light since it will fix itself once the systems go to "sleep". You'll essentially just want to hook up and get the motorhome running for 20 minutes. To be honest most people just ignore it and drive as normal and let it sort itself out after 20 minutes.

As for charging the battery, if you wire the motorhome side of the charge line kit # RM-156-75 directly to the battery instead of the headlight circuit then it will always be hot and the headlights being on or off won't matter. If you wanted the ability to turn it off or on then you could run it to the switch # 3376391002 you have but that's one extra step you may forget to do.

Flat towing components can get very tricky so if you have more questions or if I didn't fully answer what you're looking for then please let me know and I can further assist you.
