Option to Replace Atwood 6AA-8 Water Heater

Question:

Looking for direct replacement for Atwood 6AA-8 water heater. Shows Atwood 96117 but seems they are no longer made. I have a 16 wide by 12 tall opening or so. Thanks for your help.

Atwood water heaters no longer exist, so while there's an option to replace your 6AA-8, there are no direct replacements. A similar option is from Dometic, and is also a 6-gallon, 120 volt gas and electric heater:

- Dometic RV Water Heater # DMC74FR

This fits in a cut out that measures 12-3/4" tall x 12-3/4" wide x 19-7/8" deep, which looks to be very similar to what the 6AA-8 fits, but you'll want to measure to be certain.
