How To Stop Your Brake Signal From Overriding Your Turn Signal While Flat Towing

Question:

Hi, for my 2022 Jeep Cherokee Trailhawk. I installed the Blue Ox base plates, Air Force One brake supplement, and wiring kit #RM-154 my Cherokee does not have parking sensors. Install went good, but when I hooked up to the RV, for the first time today, I think there is a wiring kit issue... The Cherokees brake lights and turn indicators mirror the RV when activated individually. But if either RV turn indicator is turned on AND I also apply the RV brakes, the Cherokees blinking turn indicator light will go solid, not mirroring the RV and not showing that Im turning. Hoping for some help about the install or product used?

This is a very common issue and it's nothing you did wrong, you simply just need to also install the Roadmaster Brake-Lite Relay Kit # RM-88400. This relay kit is designed to prevent the brake signal on your Cherokee from overriding the turn signal from your motorhome.

I've attached a short video below where Randy will walk you through the installation of the relay. The brake light switch wire for your Cherokee is colored dark green. You can test the wire by pricking into it with the # PTW2993 and then depress the brake pedal. If the tester lights up with the pedal depressed you know that you have the correct wire.
