Troubleshooting A Blue Ox Avail Tow Bar With A Locked Up Arm

Question:

I have an Avail non binding Blue Ox tow bar and one arm will not release. It is locked in the extended position. Towing a 2014 Saturn Vue behind a 2017 Entegra. Any advise? Many thanks

To try and disengage the lock on your Blue Ox Avail # BX7420 I recommend pulling the non-binding lever for the arm and jiggling the arm while pushing it in to help wiggle the locking pin back out of the lock. I also recommend removing the rubber boot and spraying some lube # RM-747 on the arm and working it around to help unbind it.

It is possible that the it may have not fully locked into place when you last flat towed and ended up either damaging the arm or locking mechanism during. This is something you'll just have to play around with and working the arm in and out to determine. If you find that the arm or locking mechanism is damaged you'll want to reach out to Blue Ox to see if they can get you a replacement, otherwise you'll have to purchase a new tow bar.
