What Needs to Be Replaced On Kwikee Series 32 Steps if You Are Needing a Replacement Motor

Question:

Good morning etrailer, I have a 2005 Fleetwood American Tradition with Kwikee step P/N 903206001. The step is operational but with the door closed the step does not fully retract. It stops about 3inch from being fully retracted. I removed the motor and linkage and everything looks good with no excessive play in the gear box. How can I tell if I need just the motor or complete upgrade kit? Thank you for your help!

Given the age of your steps and that you likely still have the original parts which would be Pre-IMGL series, you are going to want to do the complete upgrade kit while you are in there because the original motors are no longer produced.

- Motor Upgrade Kit for Kwikee Electric RV Steps # LC379145

This kit is going to provide a new gear box, motor, control box and all the wiring and sensors needed for the upgrade. It is going to provide you with a motor that has has 40% more torque and will ensure that all of your components are compatible with each other.

The IMGL steps have a distinctive triangular control box that ensures you have the correct parts. If you already have a triangular control box then the upgrade was already done
