Troubleshooting Air Leak at Fittings Of Air Lift LoadLifter 5000 Ultimate Plus Air Springs AL88289

Question:

I have 3 leaks in my load lift 500 ultimate plus sysem. The leaks all appear to be where the lines attach to the fittings. I had a local mechanic shop ionstall the kits on my 2016 ram powerwagon. I checked the leaking fittings and they are wrenched really tight by the mechanic. Seeing the directions clearly not to not overtighten the connections i believe that is why they are leaking. Should i deflate and try to reconnect? should i try to use thread sealant? What are my options? THX

First I recommend trying to determine exactly where the air is leaking from on your Air Lift LoadLifter 5000 Ultimate Air Helper Springs # AL88289 with Upgrade Kit # AL52301. The -4 AN Elbow Fitting # AL52RV could leak in one of 3 places. The AN/tapered portion does not require any thread sealant. The threaded section going into the top of the air spring is the only portion that uses a pipe thread type sealant. This should be installed finger tight and then an additional 1.5 turns with a wrench. The fitting does turn on the elbow which is going to be sealed internally. If this is where your leak is or if it is on the AN portion you will want to replace the fitting. If it is leaking at the treads going into the air spring then you can remove it, clean off the old thread sealant and reinstall as per the instructions with new sealant. Soapy water is the best way to determine exactly where the leak is coming from.
