How to Determine Correct Shank For Weight Distribution Hitch
Question:
How do I determine the right shank I need on a weight distribution hitch?

Helpful Expert Reply:
To determine the correct shank for your weight distribution hitch, you need to find the rise or drop you need, just like with a standard ball mount. This is only two measurements - first, measure from the ground to the top of your hitch receiver opening. Then measure from the ground to the bottom of your trailer coupler. If your hitch height is greater, you'll need a shank with that amount of drop; if your coupler height is greater, use shank with that amount of rise.
For example, let's say you measured your hitch height at 19 inches and coupler height at 15 inches, you would need 4 inches of drop and could use the Equal-i-zer Weight Dist Shank - 12" Long - 8" Rise, 4" Drop # EQ90-02-4200.
I have added a link below to our entire selection of weight distribution shanks for you, or if you tell me the rise or drop you need, as well as the size of your hitch (2" or 2-1/2") then I can find the right one for you.
