Reason Why BulletProof Hitches Ball Mount Measurements Differ From etrailer Measurements

Hi there - I just like to let you know that your bulletproof hitch, md206, is incorrect. According to Bulletproof website, it is a 6 drop and rise not a 8 drop and rise. You may need to have your site corrected.

You are correct, the BulletProof website lists different measurements for the # MD206. In fact, this is true for all of their ball mounts. The reason for this is the way they measure which doesn't follow the standard.

Rise is the distance from the top of the shank to the top of the ball platform when the ball mount is oriented for greater coupler height. Drop is the distance from the top of the shank to the top of the ball platform when the ball mount is oriented for lower coupler height.

BulletProof hitches is currently the only manufacturer I know of using a different method to measure rise/drop on ball mounts. The maximum drop for the # MD206 is 8-1/4" and the maximum rise is 8-3/4" assuming you use the method outlined above.

This question has come up repeatedly, and I apologize for any confusion it has caused you. I recently answered a similar question for the # MD204 which you can see below. In this case, the customer expected BulletProof hitches measurement to be correct until they got it in hand and found out otherwise.
