Brakes Lock Up on 2007 Toyota FJ Cruiser with Roadmaster Even Brake Portable Braking System

Question:

I moved my even brake to my Toyota FJ and now when the brakes are applied, the breaks lock on the FJ until the car stops. Have settings all set to low position. Worked fine on my Smart car until I moved it. I used the green/yellow brake wire. It test OK when you run a test. Can you please give me any suggestion to fix my problem. Thanks

I reached out to Roadmaster about the issue you were having with the Roadmaster Even Brake Portable Supplemental Braking System part # RM-9400 on your 2007 Toyota FJ Cruiser. The first bit of advice they gave was to remove any pressure from the brake booster before towing so you'll basically just be pumping the brakes with the engine off. If the issue is still not resolved then you'll need to check for an active braking system. In order to do this, turn the vehicle off and remove the key from the ignition, then pump the brakes. If they don't get hard then you have an active braking system and need to use a different supplemental braking system like the Roadmaster InvisiBrake Supplemental Braking System part # RM-8700.
