How to Choose Correct Height Setting for 5th Wheel Towing

Question:

Is there a recommended height adjustment for a silverado 2500hd for a prime time 395bhl rv. This our first rv. So we can use as much help as possible. Thanks

To get your towing setup level what you'll need to do is park your truck and trailer on level ground and then measure from the ground to your truck bed and from the ground to the bottom of your trailer pin box where the king pin is connected. Once you know those numbers we need a 5th wheel hitch that is tall enough to fit the difference. You also might need to adjust the height of your pin box to get the desired height.

Aside from making sure the 5th wheel will tow level we also need to make sure it won't hit your truck bed. We recommend that the overhang on your 5th wheel be no less than 5" and then the distance from your RV to the truck bed be no less than 4" when turning.

I'm attaching some photos we have that demonstrate the points I made above. I'm also linking a helpful article for you to reference that goes into a bit more detail about this.
