Can Snow Tire Chains be Used On a 2019 Ford Edge with 245/60R18 Tires
Question:
I have 2018 Ford Edge AWD with 245/60R18 tires. The manual says Use no larger than 10 mm cables or chains ONLY on the front axle with 235/60R18 tires. Do not use chains or cables on any other size tires.inch Does it mean that I cannot use tire chains/cables on my Ford Edge at all? So, if I need to use snow chains/cables, I have to change the front tires to the 235/60R18 size first and then use chains/cables? I cannot seem to find any related information. Thank you,

The owner's manual for a 2018 Ford Edge does not permit use of tires chains with 245/60R18 tires. That said, we do still have an option for you that will allow you to use tire chains and they won't void your warranty. They are however expensive, the Konig K-Summit Tire Chains part # TH2004565767. These chains are unique in that they don't mount inside the tire so you don't have clearance issues to worry about which is what the owner's manual is referring to. The chain sitting on top of the tire is not really what the issue is so this will be fine.
If the Konig K-Summit are too far out of your budget, you can go with a set of class s chains which are designed for vehicles with limited wheel well clearance. I then recommend verifying you have clearance before use. After all, you really don't have a choice if you'll be traveling to an area that requires them. The Titan Chain Snow Tire Chains part # TC2323 are a personal favorite of mine.
