How Well Does The TruXedo Elevate Ladder Rack Handle Wind Resistance Under A Load

Question:

How solid is the base resisting torque from wind with a load on rack? Whats the base measurement? How wide are the crossbars? 78? My concern is having two canoes on top catching cross wind while driving long distances.

The bases of the Telescoping Rack for TruXedo Elevate Rack System # TX84NV each use two bolts to tighten down and take out and play with the towers. With the bolts properly tightened down and the crossbars mounted over the towers to add strength to the system you shouldn't experience much if any movement like you're referring to with wind resistance while hauling a load.

The crossbars on this system are 76" in length.

As for your concerns, as long as you properly install the ladder rack and use the appropriate tie-downs, like part # TH52FR, you won't have any issues hauling your two canoes. You could also use a carrier like the Malone FoldAway # MAL38FR to better secure the canoes to the crossbars of your TruXedo Elevate ladder rack.
