What Size Shock Should Come with UWS 100 Gallon Combo Tanks
Question:
I recently purchased a uws 100 gal combo made by uws. even used, she still wasnt cheap! I previously reached out to uws and their answer wasnt as thorough as the entirety of my question. Ive had other truck toolboxes in the past that when unlatched would pop open on their own. my uws combo does not. I almost always need two hands unless Im in a position with one hand to simultaneously get a good push of the lid while unlatching. I see on the shocks in my box that they are 45lb. the answer from uws on what my box calls for is part number UWS-LIFTCYLNDR, which is in fact 45lb shocks according to your site. but your site says my box should have the 60lb shocks, which I am hoping would correct the issue of not self opening once latch is pulled which is what uws states the box does please advise and thank you so much!

I spoke to UWS about the 100 Gallon Combo Tanks and they informed me that the shocks should both be 45 lbs. The 65 lb shocks are only used on single shock applications. If you want, you can upgrade to the Replacement Lid Lift Cylinder part # UWS08340 but this would likely be a bit too much and they instead recommend you try to adjust the striker pin on the latching mechanism (forward is tighter and back is looser).
