Can Rear Hatch Be Opened on 2014 Honda Odyssey Using GearDeck 17 Enclosed Cargo Carrier

Will this Thule cargo box tilt away from the back of the vehicle enough to allow for the lift gate on a 2014 Honda Oddysey to open?

The GearDeck 17 Enclosed Cargo Carrier for 2" Hitches # H00604 slides out about 36 inches. angle but we have not tested it on a 2014 Honda Odyssey so I cannot say for sure if it will allow the rear hatch to open. Based on the dimensions of the box and how close it will be to the vehicle when mounted it is possible that you would be able to open the rear hatch with the carrier installed.
Another option is the Yakima EXO Swing Away Enclosed Cargo Carrier, # Y62VR. This is a great option provided your van has a 2-inch trailer hitch such as # 75270. The Rola carrier can swing off to the side of the vehicle allowing you complete access to the rear of the vehicle. Since the carrier swings off to the side there will be no interference with the rear hatch.
