Can The etrailer Bumper Mounted Cargo Carrier Be Installed On The Bumper Of A 2001 Fleetwood Tioga

Question:

2001 29foot Fleetwood Tioga on an e450 chassis. The rear bumper is 3inch wide and 7inch tall. I dont see why I couldnt make my own drill holes in the bumper to fit? Would have to use some heavy washers or something so it would fit snugly though: since its less than 4inch wide it would really rattle. Your thoughts?

Technically, anything is possible with a bit of redneck engineering, but in this case I would recommend at least getting some sort of solid steel tubing that you could drill holes in to take up the gap left between the bumper and the brackets for the 24x60 etrailer Cargo Carrier for RV Bumper # e99049.

Using just washers would most likely point too much pressure at one point and fail. Since you're not using the product as intended there wouldn't be a warranty to fall back on if anything failed. You'd also have an unknown weight capacity since we have no way of determining the capacity of the bumper and the effect that not matching the intended installation would have on the carrier.

To do it the safe way you would need to install a trailer hitch and use a hitch mounted cargo carrier. In your case you'd most likely have to use an adjustable trailer hitch and take some measurements to see the frame width and how big of a drop you'd need to clear the bumper. If you want to go this way I'll just need those measurements to start figuring out what might work.
