There are a few things that could be wrong, causing a Tekonsha Prodigy P2 Trailer Brake Controller # 90885 or P3 # 90195 to not be functioning with the brake pedal.
The first is whether you are moving or not. The Prodigy needs to sense inertia for the brake controller to activate. If you are parked or moving too slowly, it will not activate with the brake pedal.
Another option would be that the stop light switch on your 2007 GMC Sierra has gone bad, this is not uncommon for late 90's - early 2000's GM trucks.
The other thing to check is that if you are not using a vehicle specific harness, you are spliced into the cold side of the break light switch.
