The Surco Spare-Tire-Mounted Cargo Basket # SPSJ4319 includes a universal-fit mounting plate that measures 6-1/4 x 6-1/4-inches and that fits any vehicle spare tire carrier that uses one of the standard bolt patterns, either 5, 6 or 8-lug. The square tubing attached to the mounting plate measures 1-1/4 x 1-1/4-inches; this is inserted into the open end of the tubing on the basket. Please refer to the photo and video provided.

This carrier is not to be used in a hitch receiver. It is intended only for use with the supplied mounting plate on a vehicle spare tire mount. The carrier itself has a maximum load capacity of 100-lbs, but you will need to check your vehicle owners manual or with your local dealership to confirm the weight rating of the spare tire mount on the vehicle where it will be used to ensure you do not exceed its capacity.

Cargo carriers designed for use in a hitch receiver typically have a much higher weight capacity than this unit, 300- to 500-lbs, and are built to withstand the stress forces that are likely to be encountered when mounted in a rear hitch.
