Will the Kat's Heaters Lower Radiator Hose Heater KH16600 Overheat the Coolant
Question:
Im looking to purchase a Kats Heaters Lower Radiator Hose Heater but I see that the thermostat is set at 279 degrees. Since water boils at 212 degrees, wouldnt this over heat the coolant? Thanks

The Kat's Heaters Lower Radiator Hose Heater part # KH16600 has a shutoff point of 270 degrees Fahrenheit. However, that does not mean it will heat the coolant until this temperature is reached every time. It's just a failsafe to prevent damage from overheating if something were to occur. The heater is also at a single location so it won't send this same temperature throughout the entire system. The actual temperature the heater will warm the coolant to can vary by application.
Please note, engine coolant has a higher boiling point than just tap water.
