Way to Gain Additional Fifth Wheel Hitch Height When Hitch Is in Tallest Setting
Question:
I have a 22 Ford F-250 with a curt A16 hitch. I have it in the 17inch height position, and only have 4inch of clearance for the bedrails. do I have to buy a BW hitch that has a 183/4 height setting? Can I save my present hitch ?

4 inches is the bare minimum of bed rail to trailer overhang clearance so assuming you won't be travelling on a lot of steep incline changes you would be fine. Instead of going with a taller hitch though you should be able to unbolt your pin box and reconnect it in lower holes on the trailer frame to give you more height there. When making a height change like this you do want to make sure the trailer is sitting as level as possible.
