Recommendation for Attaching a BMX Bike to a Softride HD Bike Rack
Question:
I have a Softride HD Rack that I need to attach my BMX bike to. It seems near impossible to get the frame to fit. Any suggestions?

I recommend using a top tube bike adapter like part # 64005. Bikes with small or angled frames can be difficult to load on a hanging style bike rack. This adapter hooks around the seat post and handlebar post and is adjustable. If you need an adapter with a larger adjustment range, you can use the Yakima Tube Top Adapter, # Y02531, which is adjustable from 14-1/2 inches to 24-1/2 inches.
If you keep your bike seat lowered, you may need to raise the seat post for an adapter bar to fit, but it should provide the space necessary to clear the bike rack arms. You may also need to remove the anti-sway cradle from the main cradle to create enough room for the bike frame or adapter bar.
I have attached a demonstration video of the top tube adapter for you to check out as well.
