Parts Needed to Flat Tow a 2008 Honda Accord Sedan with a Roadmaster Stowmaster Tow Bar
Question:
Im going to be buying the Road Master Tow Bar for my 2008 Jayco Greyhawk, Class C. My current tow vehicle will be a 2008 Honda Accord 4 dr. My questions... 1. In addition to the RM-501, what other specific required items do I need to purchase to be fully set-up braking, lighting, etc? 2. When we are travelling and want to use the Accord after disconnecting from my motorhome, will the entire tow bar assembly need remain on the Accord, or is it simple to disconnect the tow bar and just have the brackets remaining? 3. Is the RM-501 the recommended choice for the Honda Accord, or should I consider another model? Thanks in advance for your help!

There are 5 major components needed to flat tow a 2008 Honda Accord. But the first step is to consult the vehicle owners manual for specific information on flat towing the Accord.
To flat tow a vehicle you will need the tow bar, base plates which attach to the vehicle and provide the proper attachment point for the tow bar, safety cables, lighting, and supplemental braking.
For base plates you will need # 521561-1. They are compatible with the Stowmaster tow bar. For safety cables I recommend # RM-643. The coiled design helps keep the cables off of the ground and they have more than enough capacity for your 2008 Honda Accord.
For lighting I reocmmend a simple magnetic light kit, # RM-2120, because with it set up is quick and easy and you will not have to cut into the vehicle wiring for installation.
And finally, most states require a supplemental braking system in the vehicle being flat towed. One of the easiest systems to set up and use is the Even Brake proportional system, # RM-9400. It applies the vehicle brakes in proportion to how much the motor home is braking. This is the safest way to stop and it reduces wear and tear on both vehicles.
I have included a couple of helpful links on flat towing for you.
