Parts Needed to Flat Tow a 2014 Jeep Cherokee with a Roadmaster Blackhawk Tow Bar
Question:
2014 Jeep Cherokee: I want to get a baseplate set that will fit my Jeep, and I will be using the Roadmaster All Terrain 2 Blackhawk tow bar 10000 lbs that I already own. Will these new baseplates labeled EZ4 fit the Blackhawk tow bar?

Helpful Expert Reply:
Yes, the EZ4 base plates for the 2014 Jeep Cherokee, # RM-521447-4, are compatible with Roadmaster Blackhawk tow bar # RM-422, and any motor home mounted Roadmaster tow bar.
If you do not already have safety cables you can use # BX88197 to match the 1oK capacity of the tow bar.
You will also need a lighting solution. I recommend a magnetic kit such as # RM-2120 because it is quick and easy to set up and you will not have to cut into the vehicle wiring to use it.
And finally, most states require a supplemental braking system in the vehicle being flat towed. One of the easiest systems to set up and use is the Even Brake proportional system, # RM-9400. It applies the vehicle brakes in proportion to how much the motor home is braking. This is the safest way to stop and it reduces wear and tear on both vehicles.
I have included a couple of helpful links on flat towing for you. Be sure to consult your Jeep owners manual for more specific information on flat towing the vehicle.
