Troubleshooting Interior Dome Lights On an Enclosed Trailer Not Functioning
Question:
I have a 2010 Escalade with a 6.2 l. I also have a 2011 neo 7x23 enclosed trailer. All the exterior lights work, the dome lights do not. Not sure why. Any information would be helpful, thank you. It it is a seven pin connection.

Depending on how your 2011 Noe trailer was wired you will have a couple things to check. First the exterior running lights, brake lights and turn signals will run off different circuits than any interior dome lights. Typically with interior lights there will be a dedicated battery for the lights so they can still be operated when not connected to your tow vehicle. Otherwise they will likely just be connected to the auxiliary charge line circuit on the 7-way. A Test Light # PTW2993 can be used to trace the wiring for the lights and any switches to determine if there is a problem with the wiring which is causing the lights to not function. You can also use the test light to ensure power is coming from your 2010 Cadillac Escalade's charge line on the 7-way. If there is not power on this circuit then it will not power the lights or charge any battery used to power the lights. There is a J-Case fuse in slot 68 on your engine compartment fuse box which controls power to the 7-way. If this fuse is missing or damaged it will need to be replaced. You will also need to ensure the wiring for the charge line is installed on the correct terminal as this is not always done at the factory. Please see the article linked below to see the placement of the wiring.
If these still do not fix your issue please let me know where you have been able to trace any power.
