What Is Needed To Install A Trailer Brake Controller On A 2007 Dodge Ram Pickup With 4-Flat

Question:

Hello. you know my truck is a ram 2500, 2007 with cummins 5.9. install a curt 51170 controller with its adapter cable. but I dont know which wire connects to connector 7. The truck only has a 4-pin flat connector that I understand is only for trailer lighting. I did some research and found that these trucks do not have a factory 7 pin connector. At least I need to buy a cable harness in which I have the line for the electric brake, line for auxiliary current and reverse lus

To install the trailer brake controller onto your 2007 Dodge Ram Pickup you will need to install a 7 way trailer connector # ETBC7 to your 2007 Dodge Ram Pickup. This pre-wired 7-and 4-way trailer connector plugs into the existing 4-way connector on your vehicle. After you connect it to your 4 flat connector there will be 4 different wires there functions are below:

Black - connects to the battery
Blue - connects to the output wire on the brake controller
White - connect to the vehicle's frame for ground
Yellow - auxiliary wire for reverse lights

Your controller# 51170 has spliced wiring that will attach to the wiring from the # ETBC7.

I linked an installation video below of the # ETBC7 being installed onto a 2001 Dodge Ram Pickup it will be the same installation process for your 2007 Dodge Ram Pickup. If you have any further questions please feel free to reach back out to me anytime and I would be more than happy to assist.
