Can the Flint Hill Goods 30" x 50" Wheelchair Carrier Be Installed With the Ramp on the Drivers Side
Question:
Hi there! Can it be assembled so that the loading ramp is on the driver side of the vehicle? I have a 2012 Lexus GX 460 and rear hatch door swings out to the passenger side. I wanna be able to do the following: lower the loading ramp, swing open the rear hatch door, use the ramp to walk up on the the carrier to load/access cargo in the vehicle, swing close the rear hatch, load cargo on the carrier, fold up the ramp, get going. Asking too much? Thanx

Yes, the Flint Hill Goods 30" x 50" Wheelchair Carrier w/ 48" Ramp # FHG77ZR can be installed with the ramp on the drivers (traffic) side. The # FHG77ZR comes disassembled, the instructions will have the carrier oriented to open on the passenger (curb) side. So during installation you would want the open side of the carrier facing the opposite way of the instructions.
The reason that this carrier and all other carriers are "designed" to open on the passenger (curb) side is for safety reasons. You do not want to open the carrier and have a ramp sticking out into traffic. So if you do install this against the way the instructions suggest, you will just want to always be cognizant of your surroundings and ensure you are not causing a safety issue with traffic.
