Thule Raceway Trunk-Mount Bike Rack # TH9001 Recommendation For 2004 Mazda 6 Sedan

Question:

What bike rack can you recommend for my vehicle? I would prefer a trunk mount but all of the QandAs you posted are for the Mazda 6 Sedan with a rear spoiler. My car does not have the spoiler. However, I may be in the market for a newer vehicle in the next year and would like to be able to utilize my purchase with the new car. Thank you!

Many of the trunk-mount bike racks are now designed to fit on vehicles with or without trunk spoilers. My favorite trunk-mount bike rack, hands down, is the Thule Raceway # TH9001. This bike rack holds 2 bikes with a weight limit of 35 lbs per bike and will work well on your 2004 Mazda 6 sedan.

The best feature of the Raceway is the retractable cables. The cables have a longevity that straps just do not have. Straps tend to fatigue over time whereas the cables retain their strength. The Raceway also has the patented Thule FitDial system which takes the guess work out of mounting the rack on your vehicle.

The other feature I really like about the Raceway is the locking knob that will secure the bike rack to your vehicle and the integrated cable lock that secures your bikes to the rack. For convenience, this locking system uses the same key for both functions.

If you plan on carrying bikes without a horizontal top frame tube, I recommend checking out the Thule Adapter Bar # TH982XT. This adapter bar connects between the seat and handlebar posts to provide a level mounting surface to mate with the carrier arms and will keep the bike level to provide proper ground clearance.

I have attached brief installation videos of both the Raceway bike rack and also the Thule adapter bar for your reference.
