Replacement Tires For A ST 175/80 C13

Question:

I have bought two sets of trailer tires ST175/80 C 13 and the issue I am having is I keep them at max 50psi. The problem is the tires are wearing in the middle of the tread not wearing evenly. My thought is the load on the 2002 ShoreLandr boat trailer is a 2002 Alumacraft 1648MV I figure the total weight around 600 that includes the boat, batteries, fuel, on board charger, outboard, trolling motor. So the max I am towing in weight would be maybe 600-800 pounds. I feel the air in the tires should be less since the load is 1/2 on the tires 1350 load limit. I am going to buy radials this time will that help? Should I run less air, so the tires wear even?

The Karrier ST175/80R13 Radial Trailer Tire # AM10210 will help greatly when towing your trailer. You will always need to keep your tires at the recommend PSI. So for example these tires have a maximum load rating of 1,650 pounds at 70 PSI. You need to keep them at 70 PSI. It also sounds like you may be running Bias tires on the highway. That could be the cause of them wearing unevenly. Bias tires are more for farm use. Make sure to never overload the tires, no matter what kind of tires you put on if you overload them you will always run into the tires wearing unevenly.
