Are Diode and Heat Sink Needed for Charge Line Kit on Towed 2019 Chevy Equinox

Question:

I am installing a charge line from my 1018 Bounder to my 2019 Equinox. Many people have recommended to me to include a diode Roadmaster RM 690 in line. 1. It seems to get pretty hot. Should I also install a heat sink on the diode? 2, Where in line should it be: before or after the in line fuse? Thanks, love your products.

I recommend installing the Roadmaster Battery Charge Line Kit for Towed Vehicles # RM-156-25 which uses an automatic-reset breaker as opposed to a fuse. You can also install the Single Park Light Diode # RM-690 (I'd put it after the breaker), but from my experience this and/or a heat sink isn't needed.
