Will the Thule Adventurer Cargo Box Fit on Thule AeroBlade Crossbars on a 2004 Volvo V70

Question:

Can you mount the Thule Adventurer on the newer Thule aero crossbars or other brand newer crossbars? What type crossbars would you recommend for the Adventurer cargo box? I bought a Thule Adventurer cargo box with Thule square crossbar system in 1998. I have the square crossbars mounted on my 1998 4Runner, plus an extra pair of square crossbars that I could mount on my 2004 Volvo V70. However, I would need to buy the feet to mount the crossbars on the factory roof rail no factory crossbars, just the roof rails along both sides of the roof. Given the high cost of the square bar feetpack and the aging car I may not keep much longer, I would consider buying newer feetpacks/bars as long as the Adventurer would still fit. Thanks

The Thule Adventurer cargo box will fit on the Thule WingBar crossbars. The mounting hardware that came with the Adventurer cargo box had 3 holes, you will want to use the outer holes with the WingBar crossbars (see photo). If you need replacement mounting hardware for your Adventurer cargo box, you can use the Quick Mount QM3 Mounting Hardware, # TH04997.

It does make sense that if you're going to put crossbars on your 2004 Volvo V70 that you go with a new kit that's going to last beyond the car and have a chance of fitting your next vehicle as well. Since the V70 is equipped with raised side rails on its roof you need the Evo raised rail feet, part # TH711400, to install Thule WingBars. The good thing is that these work with pretty much all raised rails on pretty much any vehicle. So if you replace the Volvo and get a new vehicle that has raised factory rails on its roof these'll most likely work on it.

The recommended length WingBar is 53 inches for the Volvo. They come in silver, part # TH711400, and black, part # TH711420.
