Tire and Wheel Recommendation to Replace 650x16 Tires on a 1948 F1 Ford Truck

Question:

Hello I would like to change my bias ply 650x16 and tires and rims on my 1948 F1 Ford pickup to 15-in rims and want to know approximately what radial tire size would work best to match the original height of the old tires ? The 15-in rims I have that fit my truck are 6 in wide. Thanks for your help.

Your 650-16 size tires have an overall diameter of about 29.8" with a section width of 7.2". The closest we have to those specs is the 225/75-15 tire size which has a 28.1" overall diameter and a larger 8.4" section width so you'll need to make sure you have proper clearance.

Since this is for an older pickup you're likely looking for something like the Karrier ST225/75R15 Radial Trailer Tire with 15" Black Steel Wheel # AM32575 since you can add the Baby Moon Hubcap # AM90086 to it for that vintage look. The wheel has a 6 on 5-1/2" bolt pattern which you'll need to confirm fits your application as well.

Attached are some review videos for you to check out. Please note that our tires and wheels are designed for trailers so you won't get the same performance out of them on a vehicle even if they do fit older trucks like what you have.
