Troubleshooting Knob of Thule Elite Van XT Bike Rack that Just Spins

Question:

Re: Elite Van XT Any suggestions regarding how to loosen the bolt and nut that holds the swing down bar to the base frame? It appears the installer over-tightened the bolt to the nut and upon loosening, the nut stripped out inside the plastic/rubber enclosure. Now, it just slips in the enclosure. Surely this has happened before. Thanks for any helpful hints to help secure the nut and remove that part.

If the knob of your Thule Elite Van XT 2 Bike Rack for Ram ProMaster Rear Door # TH302013 has stripped out what that means is that the plastic housing that surround the nut has detached from the nut. What you would need to do is basically destroy the knob so that you can get to the nut with a wrench. Once you get there you'd want to spray it with WD40 so that it will release. Since your installer over tightened it I would let them know before you proceed though to see if you can get them to cover the damage they caused.
